Eggs are a staple breakfast option across the globe. Whether boiled, fried or in an omelette, everyone loves to have it in their own way. However, the trend of weird foods has not left the humble egg untouched. You must have seen several videos featuring unique combinations like egg pani puri, egg halwa, coconut egg and egg ice cream. And now, there is a new name added to the list: Mud Fried Eggs. Yes, you read it right. A recent video posted on the ‘@wefoodlover’ page on Instagram shows the making of a dish that has eggs covered in mud. Needless to say, foodies are not too happy with the dish.

The process begins by wetting the clay with water until it becomes sticky. Next, not one, not two, but a total of 300 eggs are wrapped in the clay and placed on hot coals. Once cooked, the eggs are put into a large wok to be cleaned thoroughly. They are then peeled and deep fried. For tempering, a wok is heated and a piece of butter is melted in it. Chopped vegetables like onions, capsicum, bell peppers, broccoli, beans and tomatoes are added to the wok. Salt, chilli flakes and powdered spices are sprinkled, followed by ketchup and green chilli sauce. Finally, the fried eggs are added to the wok. After mixing everything together, the dish is ready to be served.
