After cutting 15,000 jobs, Microsoft ordered employees to work from office 3 days a week
Tech giant Microsoft has announced a three-day-to-office mandate starting from February 2026. Initially, for employees near the company’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, the mandate will expand to all international employees.
In 2020, the Covid-19 epidemic forced companies to switch at home from work due to social disturbances. Now, even large companies are starting to bring employees back to the office. Microsoft is the latest technology legend for issuing office mandate from one job.
In a blog post, Microsoft announced its plans for a changed flexible work structure. Tech giants now expect employees to work with work at least three days a week.
Amy Kolman, an officer of the main people of Microsoft, clarified that the change was “not about reducing the headcon.” Rather, the company claimed that working in the office leads to “strong results”. The company has recently trimmed, in which at least 15,000 people have lost their jobs from May.
However, Microsoft is not going to hurry the office plan with this work. Tech is giving giant employees a few months to adjust to the new schedule with three stages of rollout.
Microsoft 3-step Work-Off-Off-Office Plan
Tech giants will first focus on their company headquarters in Redmond, Washington in the US. Employees who live within a 50-mile of any microsoft office in the Pugate Sound area, will have to follow this mandate by February 2026.
Employees who fall in this category will get more information about infection. A ten -day window has been provided for someone who wants to request a discount. According to the Pugat Sound Business Journal, Microsoft appointed about 52,900 people in the region.
The blog post mentions that the deadline for other American employees will be announced soon. The company is likely to give employees the option to choose the office from their work. However, no information was revealed in the post in this regard.
Office mandate from Microsoft Work in India
For employees outside the US including India, Microsoft has not yet launched a plan for the mandate from the work. Tech veteran claimed that infection would be planned in 2026. The company must have been waiting for the first step before the global rollout.
According to Microsoft’s official website, India has more than 20,000 employees with ten different cities, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, New Delhi, Noida, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
The latest technology to demand a return to Microsoft Office is not veteran. In September 2024, Amazon switched to the mandate of five-day work-from office.
