Adobe is now bringing generative image capabilities to its PDF application, Adobe Acrobat, to enhance users’ interaction with digital documents. Starting tomorrow, Acrobat and Reader users will be able to create and edit images in PDFs using text prompts within the document with the help of Adobe’s new Firefly Image 3 model.

The new AI update brings two main features to the PDF editor: “Edit Image in Acrobat” and “Generate Image in Acrobat.” The “Edit Image” feature includes tools such as Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop, all powered by Firefly. These tools will allow users to easily add, remove, or modify content within document images, enabling tasks such as erasing unwanted objects, removing backgrounds, or adding new images within Acrobat.

On the other hand, the “Generate Images” feature will allow users to create and adjust the size and style of images, integrating them into any part of the document. According to Adobe, the Generative Images feature is designed to quickly and easily enhance documents with unique visuals, making it easier for users to create visually appealing content without requiring extensive creative expertise.

“With the new Firefly and AI Assistant capabilities in Acrobat, anyone can transform the information in their digital documents into actionable insights and visually engaging content – quickly and easily,” said Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president, Adobe Document Cloud.

Meanwhile, Adobe has also introduced new capabilities for Acrobat AI Assistant, a conversational engine integrated into Reader and Acrobat workflows. These features are aimed at streamlining research, data analysis, and information sharing across various document types, including PDF, Word, and PowerPoint files.

One of these features is “Insights Across Documents,” which allows users to synthesize information from multiple documents and format it into coherent content. For example, a marketer researching Gen Z customers can drag and drop relevant documents into the Acrobat AI Assistant, which will identify key topics and trends and answer specific questions based on the content across all documents.

Additionally, there are advanced meeting transcript capabilities that help users automatically create summaries of virtual meetings, highlighting key topics, key points, and action items. This ensures that all participants stay informed and aligned, even if they don’t attend the meeting. These advancements in Adobe Acrobat aim to enhance user productivity and creativity, setting a new standard for digital document management and interaction.

Users can directly access the Adobe image generation tool through a standalone web application at firefly.adobe.com and it can be easily accessed on mobile browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.
