Aditya Roy Kapur is all set to hit the big screens this November with his much-awaited film Metro… In Dino. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film will be a sequel to 2007’s Life In A… Metro and Kapoor is extremely excited about it. Recently, while talking to India Today, the Aashiqui 2 actor revealed that the shooting of the film has been completed and it is ready for release.
Aditya said, “I am extremely excited about that film. It is one film that I am looking forward to.” In the same interview, when the actor was asked if he follows any kind of ritual before starting a film, Kapoor said, “I just prepare for the role before the film starts, that’s all. But apart from that, I don’t have any specific thing that I do.”
Metro…In Dino which was earlier scheduled to release in September, will now hit the theatres on November 29 this year. The romantic saga stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Pankaj Tripathi. With music by Pritam, the film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu and Tani Basu.
A brief description from the makers states, “Love in the city is at the centre as we bring forth heartwarming stories of modern couples in MetroIndino. Get ready for a journey of urban romance like never seen before.” The plot seems similar to his debut film Life In A Metro, released in 2007, which starred Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Sharman Joshi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali and Shilpa Shetty.
It was a unique film that was considered way ahead of its time as it had 9 main characters simultaneously driving the story forward and not everyone knew each other. This was a big step taken by the writers and luckily it helped make Life in a Metro a sleeper hit.
Aditya Roy Kapur started his career as a video jockey for popular shows and events. In the same India Today interview, the actor was asked what he misses the most from those days and he was quick to say, “The one thing I miss about being a VJ is my hair, I miss that hair. It was a fun job, I got to meet a lot of interesting people and travel a lot, so maybe I miss that, constantly doing different things but, honestly, as an actor, it’s also interesting because you get to do different things all the time. So it’s just the hair.”

After delivering a blockbuster like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013, Aditya has been a part of several theatrical releases but most of them barely reached the ROI point. While some got him great critical acclaim, none of them in the last decade were box office successes. Kapoor fans have high expectations from Metro… The film is in good hands in terms of execution as Dino is in the lead.
It cannot be ignored that Aditya’s digital debut was certainly a success. The 38-year-old Aditya entered the OTT space with Disney+ Hotstar’s crime thriller The Night Manager, which earned him a lot of praise. A remake of the British television series of the same name, the 7-episode series also featured Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl and Saswata Chatterjee in pivotal roles.
