Bollywood star Aditya Roy Kapur, known for giving many hit films, recently talked about facing some ‘weak moments’ in his career. Reflecting on the ‘tough phase’ when he lost work due to consecutive flops, he shared how important it was to lean on a strong support system. He stressed that having friends and family together is the key to getting through those challenging times.
During a conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her chat show What Women Want, Aditya Roy Kapur talked about various challenging phases in his life that made him feel insecure. He recounted his experiences ranging from academic failures and health concerns to film flops and struggles.
The Night Manager actor reflected on how some of his films were not well received, and he found himself frustrated with the roles he was offered at the time. “There have been some weak moments, like films not playing, or when no one has work. Some films didn’t do well and I didn’t like anything (that was being offered), probably because I was insecure at that time,” he said.
This difficult period marked by lack of work and dissatisfaction underlined the importance of a strong support system. He said, “It was a difficult period where I was not liking anything and I was not even working for some time.” Aditya admitted that encouragement from friends and family helped him deal with those difficult moments.
When Kareena asked how he deals with failures, Aditya explained that his approach varies depending on the film. He highlighted the significant investment of time and effort that goes into making a film, including intensive promotional activities that build anticipation. After devoting almost a year to a project, the impact of a flop can be profound.
He also said that an exciting buildup can make a film’s failure particularly upsetting. It hurts, and he admitted that it takes time to overcome and recover from the disappointment. “It always hurts, it takes time to sink in and you get over it. “Before I go out into the world again, I’m on my own.”
Aditya Roy Kapur made his debut in 2009 with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan’s film London Dreams. She gained considerable attention with her breakout role in 2013’s Aashiqui 2 alongside Shraddha Kapoor. Since then, he has acted in many popular films including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, OK Jaanu and Kalank.
His latest project, The Night Manager, marked his debut in the OTT sector. Aditya will next be seen in Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, where he will share the screen with Sara Ali Khan. The film is the sequel to the 2007 hit Life in a Metro and stars a talented cast including Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi and Anupam Kher.
