Adani Power Shares Increase by 5% for 570 MW Hydropower Project in Bhutan

Shares of Adani Power Limited (APL) have increased 5% on BSE on Monday, September 8 at 5%, after which the company announced a shareholders contract (SHP) with Bhutan’s state -owned Utility Drook Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC).

In the agreement signed on September 5, 2025, there is a significant step towards the establishment of a 570 MW hydroelectric project at Wangchu, Bhutan.

According to the company filing, both parties will include a public company in Bhutan to implement the project. The new entity will have 49:51 shareholding structures, with APL maintaining 49% and DGPC 51%.

Strategic partnership highlights the pressure of Adani Power to expand its presence in the hydro power field beyond the Indian borders.

Under the terms of the SHA, APL and DGPC will have the right to appoint three directors on the project company’s board. Both companies have agreed to contribute capital over time -time -to -time in addition to the initial investment.

Initially, the project company will provide 9.9 million shares to APL and DGPC. The contract includes standard sections covering pre-eminent rights, restrictions on stock transfer, default events, and non-competitive responsibilities.

The APL confirmed that it currently does not have an equity stake in the DGPC. However, the formation of a new project entity under the SH Pacharik SHA paves the way for long -term strategic partnership between the two utilities.

Adani Power’s shares closed at Rs 609.80 on Friday.
