Timothée Chalamet had his fan moment, and it was for Adam Sandler. The two stars spent an unforgettable evening with students at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles on November 15, where they candidly chatted about their careers, inspirations and on-screen journeys. The event, titled Sandler x Chalamet, had a packed audience eager to see the unexpected pairing on stage.

Chalamet did not hold back his praise. After watching a clip of Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Punch-Drunk Love’, he turned to Sandler and said, “To see you play a role like this, going against what people thought they knew about you – man, it’s one of the most powerful performances I’ve ever seen. This guy is an incredible actor.” You deserve to stand there with the golden statue.”

Sandler took the praise warmly and responded with love. He said, “What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond all this.” “I can’t wait to see what you do next.”

The duo revisited key moments from their filmographies with clips from ‘Big Daddy’ and ‘Uncut Gems for Sandler’, while Chalamet’s reel included ‘Call Me by Your Name’, ‘Dune: Part Two’ and his Bob Dylan biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’. Fans were treated to fresh glimpses from their upcoming films – Sandler’s ‘Marty Supreme’ and Chalamet’s ‘Jay Kelly’ – as well as old footage from their Saturday Night Live days.

They even laughed at the missed opportunity to collaborate. Chalamet once had a role opposite Sandler in Jason Reitman’s Men, Women & Children (2014), but his scene never made the final cut. “I remember Jason saying to me, ‘This kid is playing quarterback – he’s incredible,'” Sandler recalled. “He knew.”

Sandler’s ‘Marty Supreme’ will be released on Christmas Day 2025, while Chalamet’s J Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach, will arrive on Netflix on December 5.
