Actor Vikram on ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ winning 4 National Awards: ‘I would have been happy…’
Actor Chiyaan Vikram speaks to IndiaToday.in about his film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, which recently won four National Awards.

The historical epic ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1’ (PS-1) directed by Mani Ratnam has recently won four National Film Awards. The film, which is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic Tamil novel, has been praised for its grandeur, storytelling and brilliant performances by the cast including noted actor Chiyaan Vikram.
Vikram, who played the role of Aditha Karikalan, recently expressed his happiness about this. In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Vikram said in a light-hearted manner, “It feels amazing, but I would have been even happier if I had got this role.”
“Yes, we have won four National Awards. I am really happy because it was not meant to be a part of history but we had to bring it out and carve it in stone. It just happened and it got recognised in this way. It means a lot,” the actor said.
Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan won four awards, including Best Regional Film, Best Background Music (AR Rahman), Best Cinematographer (Ravi Varman) and Best Sound Design (Anand Krishnamurthy).
Apart from Vikram, PS:1 also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi, among others.
