Actor Suriya on Kanguva release: I hope we have another Diwali on 14th November
Actor Suriya, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming magnum opus Kanguva, was in Bengaluru to promote his film. Talking about the fantasy action film directed by Siva, Suriya talked about the inspiration behind bringing a film like Kanguva and more.

Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, Tamil superstar Suriya hopes that people will get a chance to celebrate another Diwali on November 14, which is the release date of Kanguva. Produced by Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green and UV Creations, this pan-Indian film has received an enthusiastic response to all the promotional materials released so far. Directed by Siva, this fantasy action drama, set in medieval times, stars Suriya in the lead role and Bobby Deol as the protagonist.
Addressing the gathering at a press conference, Surya said, “I hope we will have another Diwali on November 14.” During his speech he also said, “Kanguva has been created with a lot of love – it’s not for money, but we put a lot of love and time into it because we wanted to give you something like Kanguva”. He further added, “When there are fans who shower unconditional love even though I am not seen on screen frequently, it feels like it is the kind of love I would call ‘mother’s love’. I feel it is my responsibility to give them this kind of film.”

Reflecting on industry standards, Suriya mentioned the influence of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and RRR. He said, “Thanks to Rajamouli sir, we all have to push ourselves and raise the bar. They started it all, and KGF and Kantara have shown us the way as well. They have demonstrated how creative and adventurous creators can be and how audiences across our country support good content.
Speaking further about Kanguva, Suriya said, “With the same intention, Kanguva was made. We’ve created something that hasn’t been done before; Something we can be proud of.” He also shared his experience of working on the film and requested the audience and fans to support his endeavour. He said in Tamil, “Oor Kudithan Theer Izhuka MudiyumWhich means, “Only when the community is united can they move the chariot forward,” encouraging everyone to collectively support his film.

Suriya also expressed his gratitude to the Kannada distribution team led by KVN Productions and acknowledged the tremendous efforts of the Kanguva crew. He highlighted the work of cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy and composer Devi Sri Prasad, both of whom pushed their limits for the film. Suriya revealed that no additional lights were used in the film’s cinematography, with Vetri relying entirely on natural light.
\Surya said confidently, “I’m sure you will all be transported back to a world set 700 to 1,000 years ago, and for two and a half hours you will be with us in that world.” He paid tribute to art director Milan and editor Nishad Yusuf, who died during production and post-production, praising their contributions and dedicating the film to them. He concluded, “Hopefully celebrating in theaters on 14th November with your love and support across the world.”
