Actor Soubin Shahir joins Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’, Lokesh Kanagaraj shares new poster
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has officially released the poster of his upcoming film ‘Coolie’ with actor Soubin Shahir. The Rajinikanth starrer has been creating a lot of buzz with its powerful action sequences and star-studded cast.
Rajinikanth starrer ‘Coolie’ is currently under production, the makers of which will announce the official characters on August 28, 2024. Now, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has released the official poster of Manjummel Boys fame Soubin Shahir in the film.
Sharing the official poster on his X handle, Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote, “Excited to have Soubin Shahir sir join the cast of Coolie as Dayal. Welcome sir.”

Soubin Shahir impressed people with his role in the Malayalam film ‘Manjummel Boys’, which released earlier this year. Now, he is all set to share the screen with superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Coolie’, which is touted to be a high-octane action film.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is being made on a big budget and is one of the most awaited Tamil films. Recently, there were reports of Aamir Khan reuniting with Thalaivar after 30 years. The news of Aamir joining the cast came as a surprise to his fans. However, as stated in a report published by Track TollywoodIn this film, the actor will not be seen in a full role but in a special cameo.
‘Coolie’ was initially supposed to feature Nagarjuna as the main villain. But later the plan changed and Kannada actor Upendra Rao was cast as the main villain.
The shooting of ‘Coolie’ began in Hyderabad in July this year. While the official release date is yet to be revealed, it will release in theatres in the second half of 2025. Apart from Rajinikanth, actors Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj are also set to play key roles in the film.
Meanwhile, superstar Rajinikanth is set to appear in the action drama Vettaiyaan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. It also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan in pivotal roles. Vettaiyaan is set to hit theatres on October 10, 2024, with its first single, titled ‘Hunter Vantaar’, set to release soon.
