“Thank you to all of you who wished me on my birthday today, to all those who extended your support and stood by me. Me and my family have been in the US for the past one month due to personal commitments and during this time two false allegations of sexual assault have been levelled against me. Naturally, this has devastated me, my family and everyone close to me,” Jayasuriya wrote.
He said, “I have decided to proceed legally in this matter. My legal team will oversee the rest of the proceedings related to this case. It is easy for people who are conscienceless to make false allegations. I only hope that one understands that facing a false allegation of harassment is as painful as the harassment itself. Lies always spread faster than the truth, but I believe the truth will prevail.”
Expressing his faith in the judiciary, the actor concluded by saying, “I will be back as soon as I finish my work here. All legal proceedings will continue to prove my innocence. I have full faith in our justice system. Thanks to those who contributed to making this birthday the most painful. Let those who have not sinned throw stones, but only at those who have sinned.”
Two cases of sexual harassment have been registered against Jayasuriya. The first FIR was filed a few days ago by actress Meenu Munir, while the second FIR was filed on Friday, 30 August.
According to an ANI report, Kerala Police said, “A second FIR was filed against actor Jayasurya under sections 354, 354A(A1)(i) and 354D IPC. The case was registered after the statement of the complainant was recorded. The FIR has been registered in Thiruvananthapuram and will be transferred to Thodupuzha police station.”
