Vijay and Trisha Krishnan attend the wedding reception of Kalpapati Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh’s son. This is his first appearance amid the Jan Nayakan actor’s divorce case.
Actor and TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) chief Vijay was seen attending a wedding with actor Trisha in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. A video of them attending a wedding reception together is currently going viral on social media. The appearance comes after Vijay’s wife Sangeeta Sornalingam filed for divorce in December 2025.
Both Vijay and Trisha, who have worked together in many films, looked very beautiful in traditional attire. The video shows Vijay holding a bouquet of flowers while Trisha follows him as they exit the car.
They attend the wedding reception of Kalpapati Suresh and Meenakshi’s son. The Kalpathy family is involved in the film production and distribution business.
Vijay-Sangeetha divorce case
On February 27, Sangeeta’s divorce petition surfaced on social media in which she had requested the court to end their 27-year-old marriage. In the petition filed in Chengalpattu District Court, she cited infidelity, mental cruelty, neglect and abandonment as the reasons behind seeking divorce.
In her petition, Sangeeta accused Vijay of having an extramarital affair with a female actor and described her experience in the marriage as “persistent mental cruelty, neglect and abandonment”. He requested the court to conduct the entire proceedings of the case on camera to save the family from additional stress.
Sangeeta’s petition claimed that the marriage has broken down “irreparably” and said the public discussion could lead to “further humiliation and mental anguish”. She also mentioned that Vijay had “emotionally withdrawn” from 2021 and that he had “verbally abused” her.
She claimed that Vijay had “constructively abandoned her” while maintaining an “open relationship” with the female actor, forcing her to live separately in the marital home. Sangeeta further claimed that her children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha, faced “embarrassment” among friends as a result of the situation.
The petition revealed that Sangeeta had exchanged notices and correspondence with Vijay between August 2024 and February 2025 in the hope of resolving their issues.
Vijay and Sangeeta married in the United Kingdom in 1998 and had a second ceremony in India in 1999.
Did Vijay’s son Jason unfollow him?
Shortly after the news of the divorce petition broke, fans noticed that their son, Jason Sanjay, was not following Vijay on Instagram. Many fans shared screenshots that showed Jason was following actor Vijay Sethupathi and 35 other accounts, but not his father.
A social media comment read, “Decent young man, Jason Sanjay, proud son of Sangeeta madam (sic).” However, many others claimed that Jason had not previously followed Vijay or his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Instagram. Jason Sanjay is currently busy with his first directorial project titled sigmaStarring Sandeep Kishan.
