Amrut Subhash recently revealed how rejection by a dance teacher on ‘skin tone’ affected his confidence. He revealed how it took years to take him to ‘insecurity’.

Actor Amrut Subhash recently recalled how he once faced colorism in school, who assured her that she was not ‘beautiful’. He said that a dance teacher in his school had rejected him from the dance group for not having ‘light skin and light eyes’. Amruta admitted that during her initial struggle in her acting career, she believed that ‘only fair women would become an actor’.

The actor opened about that color prejudice during his high school days and even asked his mother to make her ‘beautiful’ so that she would ‘appear in the dance audition’. ‘Lust Stories 2’ actor in an interview ZoomSaid, “We talk about women empowerment, but many times, a woman only hurts another woman. I always loved dancing. During her high school days, our dance teacher asked all beautiful students to come to dance auditions tomorrow. I went to my mother and asked me to make ‘beautiful’.”

Considering how the dance teacher’s comment on the ‘skin tone’ of the dance teacher made him unsafe about himself, Amrut further said, “I asked him to watch his dance. But he said to me, ‘You have light skin and light eyes. So, we can’t take you to the dance group.’ It took me many years to overcome this insecurity.

The actor also confessed that his discrimination in high school also impressed his morale during his acting journey. “When I was being rejected for films, I started believing in the teacher who said that I was not beautiful. My confidence was very low, and I started to believe that only fair women would become an actor,” she concluded.

Amrut was last seen in ‘Vasna Stories 2’. She was also praised for her performance in shows such as ‘Sacred Games Season 2’ (2019), ‘Bombay Begms’ (2021), and ‘Saas Bahu Pickle Private Limited’ (2022).

The actor will be seen next time in Mehran Amrohi’s ‘Chidiya’, which will include Vinay Pathak, Swar Kambal, Ayush Pathak, Inalamulahk, Brijendra Kala and Muzaffar Khan.
