Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi on Sunday on his first official visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal received the guests at the airport and gave them a ceremonial welcome.
This is Zayed Al Nahyan’s first visit to India as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and he is accompanied by several ministers of the UAE government and a business delegation.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 9 and discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation.
He is also scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and will also visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
On September 10, the Crown Prince will visit Mumbai to attend a business forum attended by business leaders from both countries.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said earlier this week, “India and the UAE have historically enjoyed close and friendly relations. In recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE has deepened across many areas, including political, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, technology, education and culture. The Crown Prince’s visit will further strengthen India-UAE bilateral relations and open avenues for partnership in new and emerging areas.”
In January, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India and held talks with Prime Minister Modi to discuss ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. He also attended the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
In July 2023, Prime Minister Modi will visit the UAE – his fifth visit since 2015, when he became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the UAE in 34 years.
India-UAE relations were formally elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India in 2017.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), India-UAE trade is projected to grow to USD 85 billion in 2022, making the UAE India’s third largest trading partner and India’s second largest export destination for the year 2022-23. India is the second largest trading partner of the UAE.
