The script development process took place over four years, involving multiple writers. Rajkumar Hirani is collaborating with Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush Bhardwaj and Avishkar Bhardwaj to shape the script. It aims to do justice to the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke and highlight his contribution to Indian cinema.
The script is being reworked to improve its tone, to achieve a balance between historical accuracy and modern storytelling.
