Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan keen on Hindi remake of Mohanlal’s Thudaram: Tharun Murthy
Director Tharun Murthy has confirmed that discussions are on to remake the Malayalam hit Thudaram in Hindi, with major Bollywood studios and actors showing interest.

Director Tharun Murthy confirmed this during an interview News Today Malayalam The teams of both Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan have contacted them regarding the scale of the film and the possibility of adapting it for Hindi audiences. He said the discussion started after the film’s commercial and critical success attracted the attention of Bollywood producers. According to Murthy, the teams were particularly curious about how such a large film was made on a relatively low budget.
Murthy said that talks on a remake are active but are still in the early stages. “Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan’s companies had approached us. They wanted to understand how we managed to make such a film on such a small budget. Remake possibilities are being discussed. I was asked if I could direct the Hindi remake, but I have back-to-back commitments,” he said, noting that this might affect his ability to take up the project.
Talks are also underway with representatives of the Telugu film industry, indicating the appeal of Thudaram Extending beyond Malayalam and Hindi cinema. However, Murthy stressed that no agreement has been finalized yet. While the Hindi remake remains in the news, industry insiders are especially watching if Ajay Devgan will be in the film.
