Do this, the government has extended the deadline.

However, this free service is only available to update demographic information like name, date of birth, address and mobile number online. To make any changes in biometrics – such as fingerprint, iris scan, or photograph – Aadhaar holders will have to visit authorized Aadhaar centers and pay a nominal fee to update the details.

In particular, biometric update is mandatory for individuals whose biometrics have changed significantly due to age, surgery, accidents or other conditions. This also applies to minors under 15, as their biometrics need to be updated to ensure data accuracy.

Why is it important to update Aadhaar?

UIDAI has consistently stressed the importance of keeping Aadhaar details accurate and updated. Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Government of India, is required to access many services and benefits, including enrolling in government welfare schemes, filing income tax returns, booking travel tickets, etc. So keeping detailed updates will help you in keeping your identity proof updated.

Additionally, regular updates in Aadhaar ensure the accuracy of information related to the Aadhaar holder. This also reduces the risk of abuse, fraud and identity errors. UIDAI encourages all Aadhaar holders, especially those whose cards were issued more than a decade ago or minors who have turned 15, to take advantage of this extended deadline and update their details immediately . With the free update window open until June 14, 2025, residents are urged to review their information and make any necessary changes online.
