External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held “productive and in-depth” talks with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on India and the UAE’s “ever-growing” comprehensive strategic relationship and discussed regional and global issues.
Mr Jaishankar was in the UAE on Sunday, visiting the iconic BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi and attending the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations before meeting Al Nahyan.
“Very pleased to meet UAE Foreign Minister @ABZayed in Abu Dhabi today,” he said in a post on X after meeting his UAE counterpart.
“Had useful and in-depth talks on our ever-growing comprehensive strategic partnership. Discussed regional and global issues and appreciated his insights,” he said.
Mr Jaishankar visited the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14 this year.
He described the temple as “a visible symbol of India-UAE friendship”.
At the temple, the minister interacted with monks of BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sansthan), the same organisation that has built the temple on land donated by the UAE.

Mr Jaishankar then inaugurated and participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations organised by the Embassy of India in the UAE at the Louvre, Abu Dhabi Museum Complex.
The session, which lasted for about 30 minutes, was attended by participants from different countries at the museum, where yoga classes are regularly organised for people from diverse backgrounds.
Ahead of his one-day visit to Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi said the visit will provide an opportunity to review the entire gamut of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE as well as regional and global developments.
“During the visit, the Foreign Minister will hold meetings with his UAE counterpart on a wide range of issues of partnership,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
The vibrant Indian community, numbering around 3.5 million, is the largest expatriate group in the UAE.
The two countries signed a landmark Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in February 2022 to boost economic engagement.
