Nicole Kidman opens up about her biggest style fail on the 2004 Golden Globes red carpet. Speaking to W Magazine for their first issue of 2025, Volume 1, Best Shows, the Oscar winner reflected on her past looks. Although the actress has sported some interesting looks over the years, there have been a few red carpet misses.
“I remember I wore a headdress to the Golden Globes once. I didn’t know what I was doing. Had some train wrecks!” she told the outlet. The Babygirl actress also revealed that her mom believes she’s had a lot of bad looks on the red carpet.
She was referring to her 2004 Golden Globes look, where she wore a plunging halter-neck gold sequin gown with a matching gold scarf-style headband. The mid-length gown featured organza detailing at the bottom of the dress, center bodice and hips.
She completed the retro look with olive green pumps and a golden clutch. The Big Little Lies actress wore her iconic blonde locks into curls and secured them with a gold headband.
After sharing her worst red carpet moment, Kidman also shared her all-time favorite look — her chartreuse Dior gown by Galliano that she wore to the 1997 Oscars. The actress added, “But I also love the Galliano gold gown for the 2000 Oscars that no one talks about.”
She paired her golden gown with beautiful tiny 24-karat gold antique gloves studded with gemstones. Kidman didn’t stop there, sharing her love of menswear-inspired outfits, saying she’s “biased towards ties and suits.”
He revealed that wearing formals or menswear is closer to his natural dressing sense. “My first purchase when I saved all my everyday money was an Alaia suit. I wish I’d kept it. It cost too much,” she said.
However, she saved some of her iconic red carpet outfits to pass on to her daughters Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 13, who she shares with husband Keith Urban. “I’ve got them all beautifully boxed,” she said of the outfits.
