A woman in the United Kingdom has confessed to killing her parents and living in their home for several years, a report said. IndependentVirginia McCullough, 36, pleaded guilty during her appearance via prison video call at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday to murdering Lois McCullough, 71, and John McCullough, 70, between June 17 and June 20, 2019. She hid their bodies inside the house and continued to live at the same location.

The woman lied to doctors and relatives that her parents were sick, on vacation or on vacation. Her actions came to light on September 15, 2023, when Essex police served a warrant at a Pump Hill residence after her parents’ doctors expressed concern about them being missing. According to police, the woman, who was 36 at the time, admitted to stabbing her mother and poisoning her father with prescription drugs.

McCullough confirmed her identity, pleaded guilty to both counts and said she understood the judge’s comments. She will be sentenced on Oct. 10 and 11.

“You will appreciate that in the circumstances you can only impose a single sentence. However a minimum term must be considered,” Judge Christopher Morgan said, according to the outlet.

Meanwhile, people living nearby described the woman as “quite talkative” and “a bit strange”. GuardianDave Oldershaw, a neighbor, said McCullough “was acting like nothing had happened.” He “thought she lived home alone” and said he “only knew her enough to say hello – she was no trouble.”

An employee at a nearby shop said the woman had told him her parents had moved to live by the sea. He said he had not seen them since the Covid-19 pandemic began, but previously he “used to see them two or three times a week”.

According to the employee, McCullough “seemed a little weird at times.” The employee added, “She would come in and ask ‘would you like some coffee,’ and then five minutes later, there would be a coffee.”
