Whey protein has gained popularity among enthusiasts and health-conscious individuals towards fitness who are looking to promote their protein intake. While it provides many health benefits, misconceptions surround its use. Some swear by its benefits, while others worry about possible losses. To set the record straight, Dr. Nandita Iyer recently shared six common myths about whey protein on her Instagram handle, putting these myths to rest once and for all.

Here are 6 common myths about whey protein that you should stop believing:

1. Whey protein is a chemical

Many people think that whey protein is nothing but a chemical. However, this is not true. Dr. Nandita says that whey protein is only protein -rich liquid material that is made as a by -product of making cheese. She suggests to buy products to avoid unnecessary additives and check the nutrition label before purchasing from reliable brands.

2. Whey protein damages your kidneys

Whey protein will not harm your kidneys until you have already existing kidney disease. She says, “If the whey protein caused kidney damage, all gym enthusiasts will be extinct by now.” Based on your body weight and fitness goals, stick to daily recommended intake, and you will be cured.

3. Whey protein makes you muscular

Iyer says that if the whey protein muscles are formed, then all the people who drink protein shake will be torn. The development of muscles requires frequent training with a high-protein and calorie-enhanced diet. Whey helps, but it is exercise that will give you muscles.

4. Whey protein contains steroids

No, whey is not pointed with protein steroids. Reliable brands do not contain steroids, but sketches, may be cheap products. She always suggests purchasing from reputed brands that are laboratory-testing and directly to avoid fake to order from the brand website.

5. Whey protein is not for women

Another common myth is that whey protein is not for women. However, women benefit from this as men do for the recovery of muscles and overall health. Do not fall for female-specific whey protein with fancy herbs. The random mixture of herbs can cause more damage than the best in the long run.

6. Whey protein is only for those going to gym

You do not need to have gym enthusiasm to consume whey protein. If you exercise light, are a busy professional, or are very tired to cook a high-protein food, the whey protein is very good for you. Whey protein is safe and effective for anyone to increase its protein intake.
