Ganesh Chaturthi 2024 is coming to an end, but we are still not tired of eating modaks. It seems Bhumi Pednekar loves this sweet too, as she has shared a video showing how she made it at home. In her Instagram reel, she is seen preparing the traditional ukadiche modak. It is a steamed dish with a rice flour crust and coconut filling, which is loved by many. Bhumi has also given the step-by-step recipe of this treat, admitting that it took a lot of effort to make it. In an Instagram update a few days ago, she revealed that it is her grandmother’s modak recipe.

She begins by making the dough/cover of the Ukadiche Modak. She boils milk and water with ghee and a little salt. Next, she adds 1 cup of rice flour to this mixture and stirs it to “make a soft, rough dough.” She instructs that it should be kneaded well and rested for 10 minutes. In the reel, Bhumi sometimes seems unsure about some of the recipe steps. She is seen seeking help from her mother and someone else off-camera, and they join in the fun too. Bhumi also reveals that her mother is watching and instructing her through CCTV.

For the filling, she adds grated coconut, ghee, poppy seeds, jaggery and cardamom. Later, she makes the modaks by carefully stuffing the coconut stuffing into the dough pieces using greased palms. The modaks are cooked in turmeric leaves and topped with saffron and ghee. In the caption, she wrote, “I am not a cook but today I took up the challenge and decided to make some ukadiche modaks! I can have modaks for breakfast, lunch and dinner.” Wondering how her sweet creation turned out? Watch the full video below for her reaction.
