Filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth’s 2014 animated feature Kochadaiiyaan was recently remastered through AI. The makers released a new teaser on 17 February.

This is the first period drama directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. kochadaiyan Created using motion-capture technology, it is being re-released with an enhanced version powered by artificial intelligence (AI), more than a decade after its original release (2014). The initiative comes as the film’s production house, Eros, unveiled a teaser for the updated version, which features enhanced visual effects and enhanced realism using AI technology.

Despite its technical ambitions, the film faced lackluster box office response and criticism for its animation quality. Reviewers often compared it to other motion capture films, such as Avatar (2009), drawing attention to perceived inconsistencies in visual performance.

The new teaser released by Eros is 48 seconds long and features Rajinikanth reprising the dual roles from the original, interspersed with battle scenes with significantly improved graphics. Deepika Padukone is also seen briefly in the teaser.

Director Soundarya Rajinikanth shared the teaser on social media, writing, “Kochadaiiyaan reimagined. It’s a feeling I can’t explain. My first child. My first leap of faith. More than a decade ago, we dared to try something India had never done before, a photorealistic performance motion capture feature film. It challenged me, it changed me. It’s personal. Some journeys don’t end. They evolve.” Are.”

The film’s return to public attention coincides with ongoing legal proceedings related to its original release. The Madras High Court recently directed the producer to pay Rs 2.52 crore within four weeks to the advertising agency that financed the film in 2014.

The court order comes after a check bounce case, in which the manufacturer faces a possible six months simple imprisonment if the compensation is not paid within the stipulated period.
