Dhurandhar’s Aditya Uppal asks Akshaye Khanna to hit hard in action scenes
Akshaye Khanna’s dedication to realism in Dhurandhar has impressed audiences and co-stars alike, with actor Aditya Uppal sharing that Akshay asked him to hit it “properly” during an intense van sequence.

A recent behind-the-scenes revelation by co-star Aditya Uppal reveals the extent to which Akshay went for authenticity, sharing that the veteran actor personally urged him to hit harder during high-voltage action sequences.
in a podcast with Abhishek Pali TalksAditya Uppal, who plays Pakistani task force member Omar Haider in the film, recalled feeling hesitant while shooting a violent van sequence with Akshay. Talking about that moment he said, “There was a little hesitation at first. He is a senior actor. But once I am Omar Haider, he is Rehman the dacoit to me. No matter how much you prepare yourself, you feel hesitant for a second. Sanjay sir hit him and then asked us to beat him. We ended up hitting him, that shot has been edited now, but it was quite long.”
Aditya told how Akshay encouraged him to go out despite the tight space and risks. He shared, “When I hit her for the first time, obviously I was a little taken aback, I thought about doing it gently. She shouldn’t really get hurt because it was a compact space too. The van wasn’t even shaking, people were just shaking her during the shoot. Aditya sir asked me to do it. In fact, Akshay sir told me, ‘Hit hard, I’m not falling (Hit me hard, I’m not falling)’. When she said it the second time, I hit her properly and went all the way out.’
The actor also highlighted the rigorous preparation done in the film’s action sequences, especially the weapons training given by director Aditya Dhar. Emphasizing Dhar’s insistence on realism, Aditya said, “We got proper weapons training. Aditya sir is very particular about the fact that whenever actors come to the set, they should be trained properly first. If you have a shot or you are in that scene, you should know how to shoot a gun. And I was playing a Pakistan officer, so it was even more important that how I shoot a gun should be different from an untrained criminal.”
He elaborated on the technical training involved, “There were three different types of guns, including the gun I had was a Glock gun. I had to train myself how to unload the magazine and how to operate the Glock. So, you need to learn the mechanism. He is very particular about not wasting time when you come to the set, the scene has to be done with preparation.”
