Here are 5 signs that your tongue may indicate health issues and easy solutions:

1. White coating

Does your tongue suddenly appear white? Well, this could be a sign of bacteria growing on your tongue. Sonia explains that this sudden change could be due to poor oral hygiene, dehydration and mouth breathing.
Solution: Nutritionists recommend including ginger tea in your diet to solve this problem. “Ginger contains compounds like gingerol and shogaol, which are antibacterial and anti-inflammatory,” she says. Additionally, ginger also stimulates the production of saliva, which helps flush out harmful bacteria from the tongue and mouth.

2. Red Dot

Another common problem of the tongue is the appearance of red dots. Do not take this lightly, as it may be a sign of excess heat in the body. These points can also be caused by consumption of very hot foods and beverages.
Solution: Sonia suggests drinking rice water to reduce red spots on the tongue. According to him, rice water has cooling properties and can help reduce heat in both the tongue and digestive system.

3. Swelling

Did you know that swelling on your tongue can be a sign of iron deficiency? Narang explains that a swollen tongue indicates inadequate supply of nutrients and oxygen to the tongue, which makes the tongue appear swollen.
Solution: You can get relief from swelling of the tongue by drinking beetroot-amla juice. Beetroot and Amla together improve the body’s ability to produce red blood cells, increase hemoglobin levels and replenish iron levels.

4. Blue-violet color

Are you worried that your tongue has suddenly turned blue-violet in color? This may be your body’s way of signaling blood stagnation and poor circulation. Additionally, it can also be caused by poor oral hygiene and vitamin B2 deficiency.
Solution: To solve this problem, Sonia recommends drinking CCF tea, which means cumin, coriander and fennel. This tea helps reduce inflammation in blood vessels, counteract blood stasis, and aid in more efficient oxygen delivery to the tissues.

5. Geographical language

If you notice red spots on your tongue that look like a map, it may be a sign of geographic tongue. Sonia explains that geographic tongue can be caused by family history or a lack of essential nutrients in your diet.
Solution: Drink aloe vera juice. The regenerative properties of aloe vera help heal tissues damaged by inflammation, smoothing out irregular patches associated with geographic tongue.
