We all love soft, warm chapatis straight from the pan, but in our busy lives, eating them fresh can be a challenge. To keep them warm, casseroles are now used in most homes so that we can have fresh chapatis even after some time. But, storing chapatis in a casserole can make them soggy due to the moisture, and no one wants to serve or eat it. This is a daily struggle for many of us, but don’t stress! We have some easy tips that will help you keep your chapatis soft and fluffy without any extra moisture. Let’s learn about these quick hacks!

Here are 5 tips to keep your rotis soft and moisture-free in a casserole:

1. Let the steam out first

Do not put the hot rotis directly into the casserole. The heat will create steam, which will make the rotis soggy. Instead, after baking, place the roti on a mesh sieve or wire rack. This gives the steam time to escape and then the roti goes into the casserole. Do this every time, this will keep your rotis nice and dry.

2. Choose a larger casserole size

Using a casserole size larger than your loaves makes a big difference. The extra space allows the steam to expand and build up around the loaves instead of making them soggy. You just need a little extra space to keep them dry.

3. Layer with fabric

Place a cloth at the bottom of the casserole before adding the rotis. Then, cover the rotis with another cloth. This helps trap the steam and keep it away from the rotis, keeping them dry and soft for longer.

4. Use a plate or stand

Here’s another smart trick: Place a small stainless steel plate or rack inside the casserole. Place your rotis on top, wrapped in a cloth. This will keep them on top, so any moisture will accumulate underneath your rotis and not on them.

5. Cover with butter paper or foil

Butter paper or aluminium foil can also be very helpful. Fold it in two or three layers and place it at the bottom of the casserole. Then, wrap your rotis in a cloth and place it on top. This will prevent your rotis from getting spoilt by moisture.

The next time you store rotis, try these tips and enjoy soft, fluffy rotis without any moisture. Happy cooking!
