On Tuesday, five people were shot and injured at a school in Central Swedish city Orebro, police said, the public was urged to stay away from the area as a major operation.
Images of the scene showed a large police appearance with several ambulances and emergency vehicles outside the school.
School attacks in Sweden are relatively rare, which in recent years have become more accustomed to gang violence firing and bombing that kill dozens of people every year.
Police said in a statement, “The boundary of injuries is not clear. The operation continues.”
The police had initially said that four people were shot, but the Tally minutes later reduced five.
The crime was being investigated as “attempted murder, arson and an increased weapons crime”.
The members of the public were urged to stay away from the area, or inside their homes.
In an update after 2:00 pm (1300 GMT), the police insisted that “the danger is not over. The public should stay away.”
A press conference was held at 3:30 pm (1430 GMT).
Tabloid Expresson reported that the suspected shooter shot himself, but the police have not confirmed that information.
The expression and Fattanbadate also reported that the police were expelled to the spot.
Police said that “for security reasons” in nearby schools and schools was closed.
Speaking to broadcaster SVT, Justice Minister Gunnar Stromer said the report was “very serious”.
Stromer told SVT, “The government is in close contact with the police and is following development.”
According to many Swedish media, the witnesses reported to hear what they believe about automated bullets.
The newspaper Aftonbladet wrote that it has reported that the local hospital had evacuated its emergency room and intensive care unit in anticipation of the injured.
Although school attacks are rare, there have been many serious incidents in schools in recent years.
In March 2022, an 18 -year -old student stabbed two teachers at a high school in the southern city of Malmo.
