Richa Chadha found success with Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012. But she also feared being typecast after working in Anurag Kashyap’s crime drama. This image was broken when she turned to comedy and won the hearts of cinephiles as Bholi Punjaban in the 2013 film Fukrey.
As the film completed 11 years this year, the actress took to social media to express her gratitude towards the entertaining film, which also led to her meeting her husband, actor Ali Fazal.
Richa Chadha gets emotional on completion of 11 years of ‘Fukrey’
Some time ago, soon-to-be mom Richa Chadha shared a throwback video of memories made while shooting for Fukrey on Instagram. She also wrote a long note explaining how the film helped her break the stereotypes created by Gangs of Wasseypur. The actress further wrote that it was through this film that she met her ‘future baby-daddy’ Ali Fazal.
Her post read, “Fukrey (2013) is a film that will always be close to my (heart). Not just because of what it did for me personally i.e. gave me commercial recognition, broke some of the stereotypes created by ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and let me meet the father of my future child (who would have thought), but also because of the joy it brought to the entire North India, especially Saddi Dilli!”
Expressing her gratitude towards the Fukrey team, she wrote, “Forever grateful to @honeytrehan for casting me here, and to @mriglamba for choosing me, to @vipulhappy for writing such an iconic part, as well as to Mrig, which is unheard of for any woman, and most importantly to @excelmovies for taking a chance on newbies like us at that time! Met and made so many friends like @rupalivaidya @vishalrr @rheawaghahujaa @nidhidexter and of course my friend @pulkitsamrat @fukravarun @oyemanjot @alifazal9!”
Richa concluded her post by saying that making the audience laugh through the film is one of the biggest joys of her life. She thanked the cine-goers for giving the film so much love and asked, “Should there be a Part 4 of this?”
