If you want something easy but sophisticated, choose the classic gin martini. This cocktail only needs two key ingredients: gin and vermouth. The drier the martini, the less amount of vermouth. To prepare this cocktail, chill your glass as well as the ingredients beforehand. Fill a shaker halfway with ice, add 50 ml dry gin and 5 ml dry vermouth. Shake for about 10-12 seconds or shake for 30 seconds. Taste to adjust the dilution level if necessary. Strain into a chilled martini glass and finish with a lemon peel or olive peel.

Also known as the Vesper Martini, this cocktail is made using gin, vodka and Lillet blanc or vermouth. It is generally slightly sweeter and more powerful than a regular martini.
