Years later, after his famous raid in Rameshwar Singh’s house, Amay Patnaik (Ajay Devgan) is found guilty of taking bribes and transferred to another place. As Amay changes in a new place, he feels that the crime-free nature of the region is very good to come true. After his intestine, he examines politician Dada Manohar Bhai (Ritish Deshmukh). Soon, Amay manages to get evidence against him and decides to raid his house.
What does Raid 2 work in favor?
Even after 7 years of its release, RAID is still remembered as one of the best crime-thriller in Bollywood. It would not be wrong to say that RAID 2 crosses the level of the first film in many ways. If you feel that suspense was unbeatable in the first film, make sure you do not miss looking at the latest part.
The story is very well designed, and layers of suspense and characters connect the value provided to the audience. While the story and screenplay of Raid 2 are capable of hooking the audience with the word Go, the sheer talent of writing lies in the way it immerses you in the world because the plot is thick and the characters show their true color.
The biggest surprise here is that the opponent becomes smarter this time, which makes the fight between good and bad more interesting. The first half of the film is terrible. The screenplay sees a dip at the beginning of 2 half, but again arises for a satisfactory closing.
What does Raid 2 not work in favor?
Apart from the dip, it sees at the beginning of 2 half, the songs are a major speedbreaker. Instead of adding any value to the film’s story, they break the flow. Trust me, if there was no song in the film, it would only be a better result. Editing could have been fast. This is the place where the sequel lags behind the effect created by RAID.
Performance and direction
Ajay Devgan again nails Ami Patnaik’s character. Facing the biggest storms and underlying intensity, peace in their eyes is so well ported. But this time, their character symptoms affect even more because they face major challenges.
Ritish Deshmukh is very good in the first half, but is not able to increase his performance strip on demanding the story. In 2 half, their character demands more intensity, but you see the graph of her performance navigating at the same or slightly lower level.
Saurabh Shukla leads the entertainment part to a rung as his character swings more towards the funny side this time. He is a great actor with excellent comic timing, so it is fun to see him having fun in the film. Vaani Kapoor has replaced Ileana D’Ruz as Amay’s wife in Raid 2. She looks gorgeous and performs a decent performance.
Amit Sial gives another outstanding performance in the film and is a stunning package. This is a treatment to see him in 2. Supriya Pathak, Brijendra Kala, Yashpal Sharma, Rajat Kapoor, and Govind Namdev gave good support. Tamannaah Bhatia looks surprising in her special dance number.
Raj Kumar Gupta took a qualified sequel for his 2018 crime. Only if he could avoid keeping singing in the film, the final output could be even better.
RAID 2 final decision
If you like to see RAID, it will be a sin for Miss Raid 2. If you do not have a chance to see the first part, then see it, and then go for the sequel as well. I will go for a strict 3 stars for the film as the idea of singing in it was a big mistake. Also, if the film was less than 15–20 minutes, the results would have been ideal.
