Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal’s much awaited romance film materialist is now streaming online. The contemporary love story follows a matchmaker, which is played by Johnson, who finds himself torn between his former and a completely correct new love interest. The film directed by Seleen Song, known for her acclaimed work, is available for streaming on Netflix from Saturday 13 September.
Following the story of materialistic Lucy Mason, a former actress replaced a successful matchmaker in New York City. Lucy, who calls himself a “eternal graduate”, has devoted his career to help others find love while protecting his heart. She thrives professionally, but faces personal conflicts as she navigates modern dating, wealth and social expectations.
This plot takes a turn when Lucy re -connects with his struggling actor East, as well as an ambitious financier that looks like an ideal match on paper. Her personal and professional world collides, forcing her to cope with what true happiness really means in a relationship.
Here’s how to see materialists online
The film was released on Netflix at midnight, which was already a dramatic run after the standard OTT release pattern for films. Viewers in India can stream materialists on smart TVs, tablets, laptops, mobile phones and other connected devices. The US Theatrical release was handled by A24 on 13 June, followed by an international release via Sony Pictures, with the international release, received positive response from the audience and critics.
Supporters include Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Louisa Jacobson, Dasha Nakrasova, Eddie Kahil, Sarey Spielberg and Joseph Lee. The film is produced by killer films and 2ams, maintaining a contemporary and polish look that mixes romance with realism.
